Employment Services

Employment Service offers a range of resources, supports and service components to respond to the career and employment needs of individuals and the skilled labour needs of employers, and can help individuals on a path to higher skill training and employment.

This Employment Ontario program is funded in part by the Government of Canada and the Government of Ontario

Better Jobs Ontario

Get skills training and financial support when you qualify for Better Jobs Ontario (formerly Second Career).

Better Jobs Ontario is for unemployed individuals for which skills training is the most appropriate intervention to transition them into high-skill, in-demand occupations in the local labour market. Unemployed workers can be active EI claimants, EI Reachback or non-EI eligible.

After the completion of an initial assessment, an Employment Consultant can provide you with information about the services and training opportunities through the Better Jobs Ontario program, help you to pursue re-training for a new career and obtain financial support.

Effective April 29, 2022,  the program expanded to better help people who may face challenges finding stable jobs such as gig workers, youth and people on social assistance. If you have been unemployed for six months or longer, and are part of a low-income household, you may benefit from these changes.
