Building Custodian (Temp F/T)

Duties Include:
-Preform all assigned janitorial duties and general maintenance to ensure the interior and exterior of Housing Operations are maintained
-Ensure maintained in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures
-Work with team mates to complete duties and meet deadlines
-All other assigned duties at Housing Operations or family units with Nipissing District

Qualifications:
-GED/OSSD
-Two years experience in building maintenance
-Ability to work flexible hours
-Valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to a vehicle
-Mould Remediation would be an asset
-WHIMS and CPR/First Aid Certification
-Knowledge of Residential Tenancy Act and Occupational Health and Safety Standards
-Knowledge and understanding of applicable Building Code requirements and Fire Codes
-Knowledge of building maintenance, electrical and plumbing systems
-Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of various tools and equipment
-Ability to preform a broad range of maintenance repairs
-Proficiency in the use of tools and equipment required to preform the functions of the position
-Ability to respect the confidentiality of staff and tenants
-Ability to work independently and within a team
-Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work with a diverse group with tact and diplomacy
-Ability to trouble shoot and problem solve
-Ability to work in fast-paced stressful environments and recognize emergency situations
-Ability to relate to others in a tactful and professional manner
-Ability to use applications such as Microsoft Office Suite, Property Management systems and mobile devices including cellphones and tablets
-Ability to maintain composure, compassion and understanding during challenging situations
-Excellent organizational skills are required to organize and schedule daily work or tasks, while being sensitive to time constraints and resource availability. Will often be required to work towards tight deadlines
-Criminal reference check within 3 months is required
-Must be legally able to work in Canada
-Successful candidate needs to complete a Physical Demands Test
