Data Center Manager

Oversee and direct construction project from conception to completion
Review the project in-depth to schedule deliverables, overall project timelines and estimate costs, working alongside the EPC contractor, Validus Power. Weekly cost estimates (the “Project Budget”) to be comprehensive in nature, using Microsoft Excel or another suitable project and cost management software tool
Oversee all onsite and offsite constructions to monitor compliance with building and safety regulations
Coordinate and direct construction workers and subcontractors
Select tools, materials and equipment and track inventory
Review the work progress on daily basis
Prepare internal and external reports pertaining to job status, considering both project timeline and Project Budget. Specifically, to include weekly status reports addressing progress, timelines and costs relative to Project Budget, identifying variances and revised timelines and Project Budget, as appropriate
Retain key documentation to develop and maintain the project history
Plan ahead to prevent issues and resolve any emerging ones
Asist with negotiation of terms of agreements, draft contracts
Review contractor permits and licenses
Analyse, manage and mitigate project-based risks
Ensure quality construction standards and the use of proper construction techniques

Administer the data center where you are stationed
Liaise with all stakeholders, including corporate employees, field workers, clients, suppliers, contractors and government representatives
Proactively plan operational and maintenance tasks
Periodically review and amend all safety policies and operating procedures as needed
Ensure all policies and procedures are implemented and followed at site
Ensure smooth operations and maintain relationships with site staff
Support corporate administration and initiatives
Participate in project planning, including budget preparation, oversight and updating as required
Maintain training records for local staff, suggest enrollment in training courses as required
Approve schedules and payroll for site staff
Contact Human Resources to discuss any personnel concerns on site before they become a problem
Complete Health and Safety Orientations for anyone who comes on site for the first time
Complete performance management requirements for all site staff
Participate in the recruiting process as needed
Participate in any investigations on site
Some physical work required for efficient operations
Willingness to step up to do what needs to be done
Meet contractual conditions of performance safety
Attend all toolbox meetings on site
Manage the Health and Safety program on site in collaboration with the Safety Representative
Conduct monthly Health and Safety meetings at site
Follow all safety expectations to the highest level
Address any safety concerns with the appropriate person
Report injuries to the HR Manager and Safety Representative as required
Investigate incidents and near misses on site

Required Skills

Ability to creatively solve complex problems in a nascent industry with few reference cases to pull from.
Minimum three years of leadership experience, preferably in an industrial or information technology setting
Health and Safety experience with current NCSO certification and Safety Auditor preferred
Red Seal Industrial Electrician certification or electrical engineering technologist
Thorough understanding of computer hardware functionality
Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
Working knowledge of Ontario Employment Standards
Ability and willingness to have a flexible work schedule
