Director of Care (DOC). The DOC supports and embraces our resident-centered care model and is proud to deliver the highest quality of personal and nursing care to our residents. As a key member of our leadership team, reporting to the Administrator, the DOC is pivotal in the day-to-day operations of the Home. The DOC works collaboratively with the nursing teams, provides leadership, exercises critical thinking, and provides guidance and support in best practice and excellence in service delivery.
With a strong focus on quality, the DOC drives the vision, mission and values by putting the resident experience at the forefront of all decision making. The DOC also provides a supportive environment for the ongoing learning and development of our team members and fosters an environment of growth and respect within the entire community.
.Bachelor of Science in Nursing
.Good standing with the College of Nurses as a Registered Nurse
.Experience working as nursing leader in long-term care
.Minimum of 5 years’ relevant management experience, including leading hiring decisions, performance appraisals, and discipline of staff
.Well-developed communication skills including experience dealing with complex and sensitive information with residents, families, physicians, staff members and external providers
.Experience working with budgets and reporting requirements
.In-depth knowledge of Ministry of Health and Long Term Care Act, 2007, the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021, and other pertinent legislation
.Experience with the administration of employment and organizations policies, and collective agreements
.Strong leadership, strategic planning, communication, report writing and high-quality human relations skills
.Bilingual (English and French)
.Proficient in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
.Must be fully vaccinated against Covid-19. The requirement that the successful applicants be fully vaccinated is subject to any accommodation obligations pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
The successful candidate will also participate in our “On Call” rotation, in collaboration with the Hôpital de Mattawa Hospital. As a condition of employment, candidates must submit a current Vulnerable Sector Check (dated within the last 6 months) from their local police service before employment can begin. Applicants must also provide proof of a negative result from a 2-Step TB Skin test (dated within 6 months) before employment can begin.
