A Valid Piece of Identification
Acceptable forms of identification include:
- Driver’s license
- Ontario Photo Card
- Passport
- Nexus card or Enhanced Driver’s License
- Canadian Citizenship Card
- Permanent Resident (PR) Card
- Status Card
Important: Health cards and SIN cards are not considered acceptable identification forms under the Privacy Act. If a client can only provide a health card, EO Service Providers may use a dual process method by viewing two other reliable documents, such as:
- A property tax assessment, government-issued benefits statement, Notice of Assessment, or utility bill with the client’s name and address.
- A birth or marriage certificate, or temporary driver’s license with the client’s name and date of birth.
- A bank, credit card, or loan statement showing the client’s name and a deposit account or credit relationship with a financial institution.
