Program Description:
Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC) is a government-funded language training program designed to assist immigrants in learning English with a focus on the four skills:
- Writing
- Speaking
- Reading
- Listening
In addition to learning English language skills, students in the LINC program learn a great deal about Canadian culture with themes such as employment, education, banking, travel, transportation, and many more. LINC classes are free to eligible newcomers and offer a variety of support services to make coming to class easier.

We offer a variety of class times and Canadian Language Benchmarks (CLB) levels to meet your language learning needs. Whether you need to study English for work, for citizenship, to further your education, or for everyday life in Canada, Yes Employment’s dedicated LINC team is here for you every step of the way.
Who is eligible?
To be eligible, you need to:
- Be one of the following;
- Permanent Residents of Canada
- Protected Persons
- Convention refugees
- A person in Canada whose application for Permanent Resident status is being processed in Canada and who has been informed by a letter from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada of the initial approval of your application subject to an admissibility assessment (this means you have approve-in-principle)
- Be 18 years of age or older;
- Have valid proof of your Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) assessment
*Ukrainian clients under CUAET with the following documents: Work Permit, Study Permit, Visitor Record, Temporary Resident Visa, Temporary Resident Permit are currently eligible for LINC.

Our day classes will be Monday and Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and Tuesdays and Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Our evening classes will run Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Can I get a certificate for my citizenship application?
Yes, you can receive a certificate for the language competency portion of your citizenship application. Please visit https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=571&top=5 for more information about the language requirements for your citizenship application.
How much does it cost to study English with Yes Employment’s LINC program?
There is no cost! The LINC program is FREE for all eligible learners.
Where can I do my language assessment?
You can do your language assessment right here at Yes Employment Services. Please contact us to schedule an appointment.
Your test is sent to our language assessor located in Thunder Bay, Ontario. You will receive the results of your language assessment quickly, and you will discuss which English program is best for you.
What do I need to complete my language assessment?
For your assessment, please bring your immigration document and any personal information such as your address, telephone number and email address. You will need 2 to 4 hours to complete the assessment.
What do I need to bring to start English class?
Starting class is easy – you do not need to bring anything! If you have a favourite pen or notebook, you can bring them with you. Otherwise, you will not need to bring anything else for your first days of class. After the first week, you will receive a Language Companion binder. Please bring your binder with you to class every day. It will be your guide when studying English both in class and independently at home.
