After the completion of an initial assessment, an Employment Consultant can provide you with information about the services and training opportunities through the Better Jobs Ontario program, help you to pursue re-training for a new career and obtain financial support.
The Better Jobs Ontario program provides up to $28,000 to cover the cost of tuition, books and living expenses for individuals who have been laid off on or after January 1, 2005.
Eligibility to apply for funding through the Better Jobs Ontario program:
• Laid off due to shortage of work, contract ended or medical reasons, taken a parental/maternity leave within the last 5 years and wanting to re-enter the workforce, laid off and took a for now job (lower skill level) or laid off and currently working less hours per week
• Canadian Citizen and resident of Ontario
• Unemployed or working less than 20 hours per week
All applicants for funding need to demonstrate that they require skills training to assist them to find employment in occupations with demonstrated labour market prospects in Ontario.
