Meat Manager

We are looking for a hardworking, efficient and experienced Meat Manager with a minimum of 3 to 5 years’ experience to lead our dynamic meat department. The ideal candidate will need to have a strong background in meat cutting, a proven ability to manage staff, inventory, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service.

1. Operations Management:
.Ordering and Inventory:
oPlace orders for meat products, packaging, supplies/ingredients from suppliers, ensuring timely delivery and adequate stock levels.
oMonitor inventory levels closely to prevent stockouts or overstocking.
oManage the flow of incoming and outgoing merchandise.
oEmail, Internet, Data Entry and Management Skills
.Pricing and Merchandising:
oDetermine and implement competitive pricing strategies for meat/seafood products.
oCreate attractive and eye-catching displays to showcase meat/seafood products effectively.
oDevelop and implement promotional strategies to increase sales (features)
oStay informed about industry trends and best practices.
.Quality Control:
oInspect incoming meat/seafood products for quality, freshness, and adherence to safety standards. Ensure employees are following proper protocol as well.
oEnsure proper storage and handling of meat products to maintain freshness and prevent spoilage.
oMonitor and address any issues with product quality or safety.
oFull knowledge of meat department operations and skills
oPerform other duties assigned by store manager

2. Staff Management:
.Hiring and Training:
oRecruit, hire, and train meat department staff, including butchers and counter workers.
oEnsure staff are properly trained in food safety, sanitation, and customer service.
oHave a great understanding of how to prepare special cuts of meat for customers
oRequires mastery of specific meat cutting techniques. *MUST*

.Scheduling and Supervision:
oCreate and manage employee schedules to ensure adequate staffing levels and the following percentage for labour.
oSupervise and guide staff in their daily tasks.
oAddress any employee concerns or disciplinary issues.

3. Customer Service:
.Provide excellent customer service: Assist customers with product selection, answer questions, and address any concerns.
.Build relationships with customers: Develop rapport with regular customers and provide personalized service.
.Handle customer complaints effectively: Resolve customer issues promptly and professionally.
.Demonstrate commitment to customer and employee relations.

4. Safety and Sanitation:
.Maintain a clean and safe work environment: Ensure the meat department is clean, organized, and free of hazards.
.Comply with all food safety and sanitation regulations.
.Monitor and maintain equipment and ensure it is in good working order.
.Following the store safety procedures.

5. Financial Performance:
.Monitor department sales and profitability: Analyze sales data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
.Control costs and minimize waste: Implement strategies to reduce waste and improve cost efficiency.
.Control and submit monthly Transfers from suppling products to other departments in store or what is taken from other departments during the month.
.Achieve sales and profit targets set by management.
